Pocket telescope

This non-achromatic telescope has a red leather-covered barrel with three green vellum draw tubes. The tubes have been decorated with gold tooling and the lenses are set in ebony mounts. There is a red leather cap for the objective end of the telescope, but the cap for the eyepiece end is now missing. A number of the lenses are also missing.

The name 'Hamel au Grifon' appears on the eyepiece draw tube and may refer to the maker or to an owner.
