Plate

Earthenware plate, printed in sepia with a view of the Battle of the Nile, 1798. Boats with survivors are shown prominently in the foreground. The whole is coloured in yellow and red with a green border, and the rim is blue with a design of sailing vessels at sea. The plate is wired for hanging and the inscription 'Battle of the Nile' is printed on the back with the Royal Doulton mark.
