Mug

Creamware mug, transfer-printed in black with a circular portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) with ships behind him and naval trophies below. Above the portrait is inscribed 'ADMIRAL NELSON', around it 'ENGLAND EXPECTS THAT EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY' and below the trophies 'VICTORY'. On the other side is an oval profile medallion of George III inscribed 'GEORGIUS III REX' with naval trophies and a ship behind. On a yellow scroll above is written 'SUCCESS TO COMMERCE' and on a ribbon 'LONG LIVE THE KING'. Between the two designs is a sprig of flowers. The mug has black painted lines around the rim and handle.
