Jug
Brown, salt-glazed stoneware toby jug, modelled as a half-length figure of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), in Rear-Admirals uniform and wearing a hat. The figure has the orders of the Bath, Crescent and St Ferdinand embroidered on his uniform and wears two medals around his neck, one inscribed 'NILE 1798'. A third Naval gold medal is attached to the coat. Nelson's pigtail forms the handle of the jug and the inscription 'TRAFALGAR 1805/England expects every man to do his duty' is impressed across its base at waist level. The maker's mark is impressed underneath.
