Jug

Trafalgar centenary commemorative hot water jug with a brown rope twist handle. The body is in colour-glazed stoneware with straight sides and a bulbous base. The rope twist handle is coloured brown. Moulded decoration on the sides is coloured green on a blue background within rope twist borders. Below the lip is an oval profile portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) with a coronet above. 'LORD NELSON/BORN - 1758 . DIED - 1805' is inscribed below. Two panels on either side depict naval battles. The Trafalgar signal, 'ENGLAND . EXPECTS . EVERY . MAN . WILL . DO . HIS . DUTY', is moulded around the neck. The Royal Doulton mark is impressed on the base.
