Cup

Trafalgar centenary commemorative loving cup. The body is in colour-glazed stoneware with three rope twist handles coloured yellow. Moulded decoration on the sides consists of dark blue panels on a mottled blue-green background, on which are placed three pale blue medallions bordered with rope twist. On one medallion, an oval profile portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) with a coronet above. 'LORD NELSON BORN 1758 DIED 1805' is inscribed on either side. The second medallion bears the Trafalgar signal, 'ENGLAND . EXPECTS . EVERY . MAN . WILL . DO . HIS . DUTY.' and the third medallion shows Nelson's coat of arms.
