Vase

Trafalgar centenary commemorative vase. The body is in colour-glazed stoneware. Moulded decoration on the sides is coloured green on a blue background with rope twist borders. This consists of an oval profile portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) with a brown coronet above. 'LORD NELSON' is inscribed below the portrait. '1758', '1805' is inscribed on the opposite side with a coronet above and below. Two panels on either side depict naval battles. The Trafalgar signal, 'ENGLAND . EXPECTS . EVERY . MAN . WILL . DO . HIS . DUTY', is placed on a green band around the neck.
