Denny, William, & Brothers, Ltd

The collection presented in 1963 through the intervention of the Official Receiver and the Denny family, comprises the bulk of Denny's technical records together with ship drawings of nearly all their vessels. It consists of ships' plans, engine plans, specifications, 'History Books' (containing the technical history of contracts), trials, launching and almost all other technical data books giving a clear picture of the shipyard's building programme through most of its existence. There are photographic albums and press cuttings, 1881 to 1957. Full details of the collection can be found in D.J. Lyon, 'The Denny List' (National Maritime Museum, 1975). The business records were presented to Glasgow University and are now with the Scottish Record Office.
