Tureen

A white porcelain tureen, as used on the royal yachts. It is decorated with simple blue scrolls of foliage around the rim, inside and out. There is a scallop shell pattern in gilt on the foot and the two handles are in the shape of entwined acanthus stalks and leaves. On either side of the tureen is a garter star with a red cross in the centre inscribed 'HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE'. The retailer's name is printed on a crowned, pink garter star on the base: 'NIXON & SON WINDSOR, WINDSOR CASTLE'.
