Admiral Robert Crown, 1753 -1841
A miniature of Admiral Robert Crown, who was a Scottish-born officer in the Russian Navy - one of many Scots who joined it in the 18th century- and a very successful one. This miniature was purchased in 1968, as Robert Crown, set in a frame (MEC3041.1) with a commemorative medal marking peace between Russia and Sweden in 1790 (MEC3041).
