Ice in the River Thames off Gravesend, 1895
        
        The River Thames at Gravesend during the prolonged frost in February 1895.  A view looking upriver from the promenade showing the foreshore covered in lumps of ice with Custom House Pier and Royal Terrace Pier on the left.  A number of tugs and general cargo ships are at moorings or at anchor in Gravesend Reach.   The Tilbury Hotel is in the background.  The date 16/2/95 is scratched on the reverse of the negative.
