Scientific discovery expedition of HMS Challenger (1858) 1872-76, album of Assistant Paymaster John Hynes

A gold blocked (off) photograph album album with green board covers, containing 139 photographs relating to the first part of the voyage in 1873.
All the relevant photographs have been copied.
The folowing locations are include: Gibraltar, Madeira, Tenerfie, Saint Thomas (Caribbean), Bermuda, Nova Scotia, Fayal, St Pauls Rocks, Bahia, Inaccessible Island and a view of two cottages by the shore at Tristan da Cunha.

Also included are photographs of groups and oceanic sections, as well as miscellaneous illustrations not related to the voyage.
