Scale: circa 1:40,000,000 (lat). A modern coloured printed facsimile of a chart showing North and South America, with the Atlantic eastwards to the Canary Islands and the Pacific westwards to New Guinea. Prime meridian runs through Atlantic islands. Elaborately decorated border, cartouche, ships and monster. Original is one of the charts comprising the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (1570). History of the chart, the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum and Ortelius printed on back.
