Scale: 1:24. Five oars from a contemporary full hull model of HMS 'Renard' (1873). The model is decked, equipped and rigged, with the sails set. The name ‘Renard’ is inscribed on the stern counter. Plaque inscribed ‘Model of H.M. Schooner "Renard" Built at Sydney, N.S.W., 1873. Length 80ft. Breadth 18ft 6in. Depth in hold 9ft 6in. Tons 120. 1 gun (12pdr) Total complement 28. Presented by Mr J.W. Owlett 1923.’ The maker’s label is underneath the plaque. This vessel was thought to have been used for research and survey work around the Australian coast in the late 19th century.
