Fictional story of the Battle of the Falkland Islands by Commander John Frederick Denman, Fl. 1914-1955.
The story was partly based on fact and was submitted to the NAVAL REVIEW, but rejected. Denman was training during 1914 and entered into the Navy as a midshipman on 7 April 1915, serving in the INDOMITABLE. He was present at the Battle of Jutland, serving in the INDOMITABLE and was made sub-lieutenant on 15 March 1917. Based on his service record, he was not present at the Battle of the Falkland Islands. See National Archive record sources: ADM 196/147/46 and ADM 196/122/105.
