Lieutenant Edward N. Syfret (left) and Gunner Ernest A. Lambson standing at the stern of the light cruiser HMS 'Aurora' (1913). Behind them is a wooden ramp with an unknown use. Part of the barrel of a Maxim machine gun can be seen on the left of the image.

In the background behind Lt. Syfret is the training ship HMS Ganges (ex Minotaur, 1863), and to the right of Gunner Lambson is the training establishment at Shotley. The photograph is after 23 April 1915 as Mr Lambson was not appointed to 'Aurora' until then.
