A close detail of a Tongkung type junk anchored at Singapore

A close-up view of the stern of a Tongkung type junk anchored at Singapore. The photographer is close alongside the port side amidships looking aft showing the mizzen mast with a boom fitted and an awning aft of the mizzen mast. The majority of the mizzen mast is out of the picture. Two men and a boy are on the poop and there is no cargo in the hold. The photographer was at Singapore on four occasions during 1937 and 1938: 9 April to 1 May 1937, 13 January to 26 February 1938, 9 March to 23 March 1938 and 17 September to 30 September 1938.
