A Tongkung type junk moored at Singapore
A port broadside view of a Tongkung type junk moored at Singapore. The vessel is ketch rigged and her bowsprit has a timber platform under it. The mainmast has a gaff and the mizzen mast has a gaff and a boom. She is in ballast and has a large perforated rudder. An awning is rigged abaft her mizzen mast. The photographer was at Singapore on four occasions during 1937 and 1938: 9 April to 1 May 1937, 13 January to 26 February 1938, 9 March to 23 March 1938 and 17 September to 30 September 1938.
