A distant starboard quarter view of a Tongkung type junk under sail off Singapore

A distant starboard side view, taken from abaft the beam, of a Tongkung type junk under sail off Singapore. She has a ketch rig and is carrying a full suite of sails including a flying jib, an inner jib and a staysail. Her mainsail is loose-footed and the mizzen sail is attached to a boom. The photographer was at Singapore on four occasions during 1937 and 1938: 9 April to 1 May 1937, 13 January to 26 February 1938, 9 March to 23 March 1938 and 17 September to 30 September 1938.
