A two-masted Twaqo type junk drawn up close to the shore at Singapore

A bow view, taken from very fine off the starboard bow, of a Twaqo type junk berthed bow-on to the shore at Singapore. The photographer is looking from ground level at the swim headed bow which has occuli on either side. The craft has a thin pole foremast sloping forward at the bow. The lug sail is stowed and the upper part of the masts are not in the picture. A foot plank connected the boat to the shore. The photographer was at Singapore on four occasions during 1937 and 1938: 9 April to 1 May 1937, 13 January to 26 February 1938, 9 March to 23 March 1938 and 17 September to 30 September 1938. A vertical format negative.
