The stern of a Foochow pole junk (trader) at Weihaiwei
A close view of the port quarter of a Foochow pole junk (trader) anchored at Weihaiwei. The stern is highly decorative and sampans are alongside the starboard quarter. Her sails are stowed and the top of her mizzen mast is out of the picture, as is everything forward of the mainmast. The photographer was in the area in the periods 3 June to 7 October 1937 and 8 June to 4 September 1938. A vertical format negative. Negatives numbers P34443 and P34447 are also of this vessel.
