A starboard side view, taken ahead of the beam, of a flat cargo type sampan being sculled at Shanghai. She has no shelter amidships and her hull is punt-like. The image is very slightly unsharp. The photographer's ship was in Northern Chinese waters in the periods 3 June to 10 October 1937 and 8 June to 4 September 1938.
