Snuff box

Horn snuff box made in the shape of a cocked hat, with an inlaid cockade. Pressed decoration on the back depicts Napoleon on a bridge, rallying his troops. This probably represents the capture of the bridge at Lodi, 10 May 1796, during the Italian Campaign. It was after this event that Napoleon acquired the nickname of 'Le Petit Caporal'.
