Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1758-1805
        
        Miniature painting depicting Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), head and shoulders, in uniform, facing slightly right. He wears rear-admiral's undress uniform, the star and ribbon of the Bath and one Naval gold medal. The miniature is painted on ivory in a glazed gold frame with a compartment at the back lined with silk to contain a lock of hair or other memento. It is a copy of the 1800 miniature by Robert Bowyer.
