Hand screen
A hand screen commemorating the Battle of Trafalgar, 1805. It is made of hand decorated with an image painted on wood with a gilt handle. It depicts a circular portrait of Nelson (right profile in the classical style), suspended from an oak tree, with the Union flag, red ensign and Royal Standard behind. An anchor is placed below and a ship is shown on fire in the background. 'NELSON TRAFALGAR' is inscribed on a blue ribbon draped over the anchor. The item is a hand-held domestic fire-screen-cum-fan.
