Portrait plaque
Plaster portrait plaque depicting Sir John Franklin (1786-1847) facing right in a blue, plush mount and a round gilt frame. The frame is glazed and has suspension rings on the reverse. An attached label reads: 'MEDALLION PORTRAIT OF SIR JOHN FRANKLIN PRESENTED BY ADMIRAL SIR F.L. MCCLINTOCK KT., K.C.B., F.R.S., RECD OCTOBER 1895'. Inscribed on the reverse 'GH MUSEUM 55'. Royal Naval Museum Catalogue 1913 p.18. no .21 'Cast of a medallion of Sir John Franklin'.
