Butter dish: Port Line

A silver plated butter dish used by the Port Line shipping company. The dish has a rim round the base with a floral decorated, perforated liner on top. Port Line badges were engraved on both sides. The butter dish is marked PLT0288.1 and the pierced liner is marked PLT0288.2. The maker's marks are inscribed on the dish: "27468, E & CO, ELKINGTON PLATE, ENGLAND, U".
