Serving dish: Union Castle Line.

A silver plate serving dish used by the Union Castle Line shipping company. The plate has a zigzag engraved band around the outer rim. The mongram "BSNC" and a crown are on engraved on the side. It was part of the first class place setting on ships. Inscirbed on the base are the words "H, MAPPIN & WEBB, I, C10/43 HARD SOLDERED". The plate is well used and scratched.
