SS 'Great Eastern' souvenir mug

Souvenir mug for the SS 'Great Eastern'.

Small cylindrical pewter mug with a scroll handle and a slightly flared rim and foot. One side has a crude depiction of Brunel's paddle steamer SS 'Great Eastern', with six masts and three funnels. The other side is inscribed: 'PRESENT FROM THE GREAT EASTERN' with leaf sprays above and below.

The souvenir mug was probably sold on board during the Great Eastern's period as an exhibition ship on the Mersey 1886-87, shortly before she was broken up in 1888.
