Coin scales

A pair of coin scales, steel beam with bowl-shaped brass pans and silk cords, a green silk tassel attached. They are enclosed in a carved wooden box closed with a hook. Also included, a guinea coin weight of William III. Reputedly belonging to Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). A label inside the lid inscribed: 'This box, scales and weights of the reign of William III belonged to Lord Nelson who gave it to my grandmother Percy before going on board to fight his last battle of Trafalgar during his stay at Leeche Esq. [John Leach, Merton Abbey calico works] of Merton Abbey in 1804 and grandmother gave it to her granddaughter E. Tipshaft.
