Whale jaw bones forming part of 'whale bone ally' in Yttygran Island
A view of some of the bowhead whale jaw bones sticking up from the ground that form 'whale bone alley' on the Russian island of Yttygran. This was the first island visited by the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980) and Ivy Sharp records that they arrived at about 0700. The weather was foggy, which turned to drizzle and then rain. They left at about 1120 as the weather deteriorated.
