Ankle sock

One of a pair of socks, used on the Australasian Antarctic Expedition 1911-14. Light brown wool, hand-knitted in stocking stitch with ribbed tops, shaped toe and heel. Woven maker's label sewn in one sock and darning thread attached to sock.
