Block of H.M.S. 'Resolute'

Block of oak on a wooden stand with bun feet, from the Arctic discovery ship 'Resolute'. Abandoned by the Belcher expedition in 1854, she was salvaged by American whalers the following year and presented to Queen Victoria by the US Congress in 1856. She was broken up in 1879.
