Circular box made from several ships
        
        Circular box. The lid is inlaid with two concentric brass rings surrounding a small circular plaque with an engraved crest of an arm brandishing a scimitar, the motto: 'Pro Patria' and the letter 'B'. The inner ring is marked 'A'. The base of the box has two similar concentric brass rings around a plaque with the date '1824' and the letter 'D' & 'C'. Engraved on a brass plate inside the lid: 'The Bottom of this Box is made from a piece of the dead wood of the Royal William launched at Portsmouth Yard in the Year 1719. C... a piece of the Royal Escape in which King James 2nd fled from England, this Vessel has been ever since & still is employed by the Navy Board. D... a piece of the Discovery in which Captain Cook circumnavigated the World.' On an engraved plate inside the base: 'The Top of this Box is made from a piece of the Royal George sunk at Spithead in the Year 1782. A... a piece of the Bellerophon. B... a piece of the Rider of the Victory that Lord Nelson died against.'
