Seal of the town of Wismar, circa 1250. It depicts a thirteenth-century sailing vessel showing a rudder of modern form slung either side of the stern post. Inscription: 'SIGIL . VM : WISSEMARIE : CIVITATIS'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
