Counter seal of the town of Calais, late 13th or early 14th century. A bishop stands in a boat propelled by a quant pole. A fork or 'mike' on the stem and sternpost. Inscription: ':CONTRA : S' : VILLE : DE : CAL(AIS)'. The cast is mounted on a cardboard backboard with a label.
