Ipswich, 2nd seal of the bailiffs, late 14th or early 15th
Ipswich, 2nd seal of the bailiffs, late 14th or early 15th century. A single-masted ship, sail furled. A star on either side of the mast and a key above each castle. Inscription: 'SIGILLUM : OFFICII : BALLIUOR : UILLE : GIPPOICII'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
