Paris, 6th seal of the city, before 1411
Paris, 6th seal of the city, before 1411. A cast of the impression on a document of 1412. The matrix was cut some years before 1411. The inscription returns to Latin. It depicts a sailing vessel, the head of the sail bearing three fleurs-de-lys per fess, which is contemporaneous with their addition in chief to the shield of arms of Paris. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
