Charles Howard, seal of office, 1585-1619. It depicts a two decked man-of-war. The shield of arms of Howard is encircled by the garter on the mainsail. Inscription: ''SIGIL D'CAROLI HOWARD BARON DE EFFINGHAM (PREACL)ARI OR(DINIS GA)RTER(II . MIL)ITIS . MAG(NI) ADMIRALLI ANGLIAE . ET . CET'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
