MacGregor's Florida Medal
Two casts, obverse and reverse, of a commemorative medal. Obverse: A cross furchy, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Legend: 'DUCE MAC GREGORIO LIBERTAS FLORIDARUM'. Reverse: Within a laurel wreath, the inscription: '29 JUNII 1817'. Legend: 'AMALIA-VENI VIDI VICI'. It commemorates an unsuccessful attempt to capture Florida, by a Venezuelan expedition, led by Scottish adventurer, Gregor MacGregor.
