Medal cast
Two casts of a commemorative medal, obverse and reverse. Obverse cracked. Obverse: A skeleton seated, facing a distant four-funnelled steamer, holding a torpedo and a mine. Legend: 'ENGLANDS . GRUSS . AN . DIE . NEUTRALE . TUBANTIA.' Reverse: Inscription: 'ES . KANN . DER . BESTE . NICHT . IM FRIEDEN . LEBEN . WENN . ES . DEM . BOSEN . NACHBAR NICHT . GEFALLT 1916'. (The best cannot live in peace if it does not please his wicked neighbour). Falsely suggests that the neuteral 'Tubantia' was torpedoed by the British.
