Whaling harpoon gun

Whaling harpoon gun. A bow swivel gun, breechloading 1" bore with a steel barrel, brass sight and breech cover. Inscribed 'W.W. Greener, Birmingham. Made for P. Henderson and Sons, Dundee, no 4'. 'RESOLUTE' inscribed on the stock. 'Resolute' was an auxilliary steam whaler of 680 tons, built in 1879, she was in the Dundee fleet between 1880 and 1886 when she was crushed by Arctic ice and sank.
