Agate (1878); Cargo vessel
Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the starboard side of the cargo ship Agate (1878), made entirely in wood and polished a mid-brown finish. The hull has a waterline inscribed on it. Features include a short forecastle, long aft deck, propeller well and rudder (currently missing). The model is displayed on a rectangular wooden backboard of a colour identical to the model itself, with bevelled edges and two decorative lozenge-shaped wooden plaques located in the bottom left- and right-hand corners. On plaques ‘T.B. Seath & Co Shipbuilders Rutherglen’ and ‘S.S. "Agate" 120ft x 20ft x 10ft 183 tons Gross. 98 tons Nett’.
