Service vessel; Horse transport

Scale: 1:24? A contemporary full hull plank on frame model of a horse transport barge as used during the Crimean War (1854-55). It is flat bottomed and double-ended with ramps at either end for loading. There are also removable washstrakes proving extra protection in heavy weather when under tow or when being rowed. Internally, there are a number of ringbolts for tying ropes to when alongside a towing vessel and for securing the horses for safe transit.

At this scale, the model represents a vessel measuring forty-six feet in length by sixteen feet in the beam.
