Equipment model; Anchor model; Sectional model
Scale:1:24. A model of a wooden anchor stock of twenty one feet made from short timber diagonally scarphed from the centre and used on board a first rate warship. The model is made entirely from a fruitwood which has been lightly varnished. The model consists of two sections held together with two wooden dowels. Overall, this produces a rectangular shape with a tapering lower face as well as tapering towards the ends in the plan view. There is a square aperture where the shank of the anchor passes through, while externally there are six square shaped hoops marked on in ink together with the inscriptions: 'A First Rates Anchor stock of 21 feet Long', 'Square 21 Inches', and 'No.2 The Proposed method of making an Anchor Stock with two short trees' marked on the vertical faces. There is also the number: '43' painted in a creamy white as well as the same again on a printed paper label.
