Service vessel; Caique

Scale: Unknown. A half hull waterline model of the port side of a Greek caique, made entirely in silver. The depicted vessel is two-masted and fully rigged with sails furled on both masts and jib boom. The carvel hull has a prominent strake reinforced with a number of vertical timbers. Fittings include an anchor stowed at the port bow with a davit and winch, three square port holes on the port and starboard quarters, rudder and skylight. The model is mounted on a blue-painted shelf with curved corners and displayed in a glass-fronted display case. On silver plaque attached to backboard ‘Presented by "Edmin" Organisation controlling Min Caioues. To Commander R.W.Sumpton, O.B.E., R.D., R.N.R., in sincere appreciation of his untiring efforts to rehabilitate The Caique community of Greece. Athens 1945-1946’.
