Scale: 1:32. A sectional model depicting the starboard stern quarter of HMS Indus (1839), a second rate 80 gun ship. The model is made entirely of wood with the hull made from several layers of planked, glued together and gauged out internally. The hull is painted black above the waterline with the traditional two white stripes along the gun decks, while below the waterline the model is painted a copper colour to indicate copper sheaving. The stern and quarter galleries, due to the elliptical shape and design of the hull, all run into one feature and are complete with twelve dummy and glazed windows, and two half windows amidship, the frames of which have been laid onto the solid hull producing a slightly raised effect. Between each window are both individual and pairs of decorated pillars.

There are two small paper labels, a circular directly above the rudder head with the number "16" hand written in ink, and a small printed label with the number "28". There is another number, "26", which has been stamped into the solid bulwark just above the middle gun port at the stern.
