Structural model; Pontoon bridge model
Scale: 1:72. The catalogue for the Museum of Artillery in the Rotunda, Woolwich, from where the NMM acquired the model, states that this is a ‘model of the centre arch of the bridge over the Great Fish River, Cape of Good Hope’. It was presented to the Rotunda in 1852. However the model is clearly a temporary structure that uses floating pontoons to transport, and then support, the prefabricated road section.
