Passenger vessel; Umiak

Scale: Unknown. A model of a Labrador umiak (Canada, North America) made entirely of wood and animal skin, the exterior of which is painted black. The hull is made of irregularly shaped and carved wooden frames lashed together with rope and covered in animal hide which has been lashed to the gunwales and frames using leather strips. The gunwales extend beyond the hull both at the bow and the stern, their ends being also covered in animal skin. There are two thwarts amidships, one of which is removable and there is an additional shaped seat at the stern. There are two pairs of thole pins on the port and starboard sides placed asymmetrically. The model is equipped with three oars.
