Passenger vessel; Logboat, native American
Scale: Unknown. Full hull model of a indigenous American logboat made entirely of wood which has been varnished. The hull has been carved from a single piece of wood and the bow and stern have been decoratively painted in red and black. The decoration at the stern includes stylised wing designs and a bird's head. The bow has a realistic oculus close to the top of the stem post on both the port and starboard sides. Beneath the oculus is a stylised bird head design. The model has four thwarts, the foremost one has a hole in the centre for a mast. The interior of the hull has been roughly finished and stained a dark brown colour. The model is equipped with a steering oar and five spear shaped paddles, all with handles. The model is displayed on a pair of turned wooden pillar supports attached to a wooden rectangular baseboard with straight bevelled sides which sit on four bun feet. On a paper label applied to starboard broadside hull is '5'.
